This time the design is expected to remain in use for the foreseeable future. The topic of the redesign will be Lincoln’s preservation of the United States of America as a single country.

The year 2009 marked the bicentennial of the birth of Abraham Lincoln. In line with the long running association of Lincoln and numismatics, newly designed circulating and collectible coins were issued to mark the occasion.
